EXECUTIVE SUMMARY / THE PACESETTER – Alternative Energy Providers

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY With the move to alternative energy sources heating up globally, it may come as no surprise that the number of alternative energy providers has almost doubled this year. Many returning companies to the List reported numbers consistent with last year while new additions were predominantly smaller operations. The major exceptions are Advanced Solar Electric Inc. and REC Solar Inc. which came in at #1 and #2 respectively. It was also a year of transition for some companies as LA Solar Energy became LA Solar Systems, Inc. and Solorcorp Solar Electric became California Sun Systems, Inc. Illustrating that alternative energy is not a new idea, Solar Unlimited (ranked No. 3) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. – By Josh Dausch Download the 2010 SFV’s Alternative Energy Providers list (pdf) THE PACESETTER Advanced Solar Electric Inc.’s fulltime Valley staff of 30 was enough to propel the company to the No. 1 position. Specializing in commercial, residential and government solar installations, the company is growing rapidly. Its crews are comprised of experienced craftsmen in the solar, electrical, and roofing trades and are members of the League of California Home Owners, Better Business Bureau (Hall of Fame) and the California Solar Energy Industry Association. ASE has its headquarters in Newbury Park but provides its services to all of California and has been in business for 10 years. A top rated company by the California Energy Commission; it is featured in a video on the CEC home page. – By Josh Dausch
