Food Firm Gets Fresh Business

Direct Pack Inc. has expanded its Sun Valley facility for making customized food service and fresh food packaging. The company made “a substantial” investment in equipment and hired 10 additional employees for the site, said company President Craig Snedden. Direct Pack supplies the food service industry and grocery chains with containers made from lightweight, recyclable transparent plastic. Direct Pack, a subsidiary of PMC Global, Inc., has occupied the Sun Valley location since 2006, Snedden said. The company serves a growth market and is noted for its innovative packaging that can be made into different shapes and sizes for its customers, Snedden said. “Rather than have a generic (package) they have a tailor-made product for their application,” Snedden said. The new equipment also will be capable of making containers from recycled plastic bottles marketed under the Bottle-Box line, the company said. The Sun Valley location is not the only one where Direct Pack is expanding. Earlier in the year the company opened a new distribution center in Asuza where it has its headquarters. — Mark R. Madler
