Radio Station Broadcasting From Encino

Radio news station KNX 1070 will broadcast from an Encino restaurant on Dec. 9 to kick off a new series spotlighting communities in Southern California. KNX on Your Corner focuses on local history and the variety of businesses found along the Ventura Boulevard commercial corridor in the San Fernando Valley. Future shows will take place in Hollywood, Culver City and Anaheim. The station picked areas to do the broadcasts from that have high concentrations of listeners, said Howard Freshman, marketing director for KNX and sister station KFWB. “The Valley falls right into that, especially along the Ventura corridor,” Freshman said. On-air personalities joined by community leaders and area residents will broadcast from Jerry’s Restaurant & Deli, 16650 Ventura Blvd. Among the scheduled guests are Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz, Pierce College President Kathleen Burke-Kelly, and David Garfinkle, president of the Tarzana Property Owners Association. Coverage begins at 5 a.m. with news anchors Vicky Moore and Chris Sedens. Frank Mottek hosts the KNX Business Hour at 1 p.m., followed by news coverage until 7 p.m. by Diane Thompson and Jim Thornton. “KNX on Your Corner” is presented by Good Neighbor Pharmacy. — Mark R.
