THQ Lays Off 30 Employees

THQ Inc. laid off 30 employees at its Agoura Hills headquarters due to poor sales of its uDraw Game Tablet, the company said in a statement. The business unit’s leader, Martin Good, also is leaving THQ “to pursue new opportunities outside the company,” according to the statement. The video game publisher said the “action will allow us to reduce costs, increase efficiency and increase the focus of our organization.” Last week, THQ lowered its guidance 25 percent for the third quarter of its fiscal year, because of lower than expected uDraw sales. The company now expects to make between $382.5 million and $412.5 million for the quarter ending Dec. 31.
