Burbank-based Healthcare of Today Inc. is acquiring Physicians Hospital System, a health care facility network in Northern Indiana, both parties announced. Healthcare of Today is a holding company focused on developing and acquiring companies primarily in the health care industry. The holding company has entered into several agreements to acquire a controlling interest in each of the operating entities for three specialty hospitals in Indiana, as well as related support entities. The acquisitions are expected to close in mid-February. Physician Hospital System’s core hospitals include Doctors Hospital and Neuromuscular Center, which offers physician coverage for rehabilitative needs; RiverCrest Specialty Hospital, a long-term acute-care hospital designed for medically complex patients; and Unity Medical and Surgical Hospital. “Physicians Hospital System is a stellar model of the potential for physician-driven systems,” said Henry Jan, CEO of Healthcare of Today. “We selected PHS as our anchor hospital acquisition because it is successfully operating on our shared values.” Jessica Vernabe
