Airport Advisory Council Member Bob Jackson Passes Away

Bob Jackson, a former pilot and long-time member of the Van Nuys Airport Citizens Advisory Council, died on May 21. Jackson was appointed to the advisory council in 1985 and served at times as chairman and vice chairman. “As a CAC member, (Bob) took great pride in being front and center with airport issues and had a keen sense of that balance between the airport as a business and its responsibility to the local community,” Van Nuys Airport Manager Jess Romo said in a letter to the council members. Jackson began his aviation career in 1942 as a mechanics helper at Pan American Airways. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Jackson graduated from TALOA Academy of Aeronautics as a flight engineer. During his career, Jackson served as an airline flight engineer and corporate pilot, ground school instructor, aircraft maintenance base manager, GA flight instructor, and in various management positions.
