Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. signed WPG Americas Inc. as the distributor for its products in North America and South America. The Camarillo-based technology company expects that WPG Americas will not only serve existing telecom markets but get Vitesse semiconductors into new markets, including industrial, video and wireless backhaul. WPG Americas brings a balance of technical and sales expertise that will win market share for Vitesse products, said Phil Richards, vice president of sales at Vitesse. “There are significant synergies between WPGA and Vitesse, including a focus on technology, customer service and support, that will ultimately allow our customers to bring solutions to market faster,” Richards said in a prepared statement. WPG Americas, based in San Jose, is part of WPG Holdings Ltd., a distributor of semiconductors, passive, electro-mechanical, and display products with sales of $11 billion worldwide.
