Valley Toy Companies Recognized by Toy Industry Association

Four Valley toy companies were among the 77 finalists nominated by the Toy Industry Association for the 2012 Toy of the Year Awards. Finalists were selected from nearly 600 nominees submitted for consideration in eleven categories. Van Nuys-based MGA Entertainment received two nods for Girl Toy of the Year. Disney Consumer Products was honored in two categories, Innovative Toy of the Year and Property of the Year. Imperial Toys, LLC and Funrise Toy Corporation were both nominated for Outdoor Toy of the Year. In a prepared statement Stacy Leistner, TIA vice president of communications, said the toys and games represented in the Toy of the Year line up inspire imagination and creativity as well as promote learning and active lifestyles. “They represent a broad array of price points and fantastic play value,” Leistner said. “The TOTY finalists provide a great starting point for everyone’s holiday shopping list.” Also announced today were the next inductees into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame which includes Arnie Rubin, founder and CEO of Van Nuys-based Funrise Toy Corp. Rubin will be recognized for his outstanding contributions and service to the toy industry during the TOTY Awards ceremony in February. Online voting for the Toy of the Year Awards is now open through January 15 on website ToyAwards.org.
