Detector Manufacturer Gets $125,000 Order

Odor detector manufacturer Electronic Sensor Technology Inc. received an order for six of its instruments from a U.S. consumer product company in a deal valued at $125,000. The customer will uses the zNOSE detectors as part of a quality assurance program for a new product launch. Newbury Park-based Electronic Sensor could not disclose the customer’s name due to a non-disclosure agreement, said Chief Operating Officer Bill Wittmeyer. Electronic Sensor instruments are used to detect volatile organic compounds in explosives, chemical warfare agents, and foods. Use of the zNose by a consumer products company is a new area for the company. “We have been promoting the use of the zNOSE in industrial and quality assurance applications for the past year as we look to expand outside our traditional university and laboratory market,” said CEO Teong C. Lim.
