IPC The Hospitalist Company Names New Senior Vice President of Operations

IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc. appointed Glenn Appelbaum to the newly created position of senior vice president of operations Wednesday. In his new role, Appelbaum will be responsible for operational supervision of IPC’s budgets and forecasts, developing plans for operational improvements, tracking performances to the plans, and for operational oversight of a number of the company’s market areas. Appelbaum will report to R. Jeffrey Taylor, IPC’s president and chief operating officer, and will assume his new responsibilities Dec. 1. “In order to operate more efficiently we appointed Glenn to this newly created position,” Taylor said in a statement. “As one of our most senior executive directors, he has consistently demonstrated strong operational performance and will bring a new dimension of leadership to our regional operating units.” Appelbaum joined IPC in 1999 as executive director of the St. Louis region. His area of responsibility has since grown to include four states: North Carolina (2005), Tennessee (2006), Georgia (2007) and Alabama (2011). Prior to joining IPC, Appelbaum held various financial and senior executive positions with Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis from 1985 to 1999. He holds a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Missouri and is a certified public accountant.
