How Much Do You Know About the Reagan Library?

So what do you know about the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum? The San Fernando Valley Business Journal asked the Library to offer up 10 fun facts about the venue. Here’s what we learned: 1) Attendees of the library’s grand opening on November 4, 1991, included Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon. It was the first place that five living U.S. presidents had ever gathered together in one place. 2) The Reagan Library is home to Air Force One 27000. Seven U.S. presidents flew that plane for a total of over 1 million flight miles. 3) Following his passing on June 5, 2004, President Ronald Reagan was laid to rest at the Reagan Library on June 11, 2004. 4) Tuesdays is Chicken Pot Pie day in the Reagan Library’s Reagan’s Country Café. 5) More than 55 million personal and government documents, more than 1.5 million photographs, 20,000 videotapes, 25,000 audio tapes, 670,000 feet of film and 100,000 personal artifacts from the life and times of Ronald Reagan are catalogued and preserved at the library. 6) The Reagan Library’s landscape includes orange trees to play off of Mrs. Reagan’s tradition of rolling an orange down the aisle way of a plane as it took off during President Reagan’s air travel as he campaigned for the presidency. 7) The Reagan Library is the only place in Southern California where you can hold an event under the wings of Air Force One. 8) To date, the Reagan Library has hosted three presidential debates. 9) Visitors to the Reagan Library actually get to act in “Knute Rockne, All American” with Ronald Reagan, through the use of the facility’s green screen technology exhibit. 10) It took six hours across four freeways to transport Air Force One from the San Bernardino International Airport to the Reagan Library.
