U.S. HealthWorks Acquires 11 Nashville-area Medical Centers

Valencia-based U.S. HealthWorks, a leading operator of occupational and urgent care centers nationwide, today announced the acquisition of 11 Nashville-area clinics operated by Tennessee Urgent Care Associates. The move marks the company’s entry into Tennessee. Four of the clinics are standalone centers while seven are worksite locations. The newly acquired centers bring the total number of U.S. HealthWorks medical and worksite centers to 167 nationwide. The company is the country’s second-largest operator of occupational healthcare centers with 2,000 employees in 15 states. U.S. HealthWorks raised $205 million in debt financing from GE Capital in June, capital that’s driving its current aggressive growth strategy. Terms of this transaction, effective October 15, 2011, were not disclosed. “U.S. HealthWorks is an excellent match for our organization,” Dr. Robert Cranfield, president of Tennessee Urgent Care Associates, said in a statement. “We will be able to enhance both our urgent care and occupational healthcare services to better serve all our patients.” “We are pleased to have Tennessee Urgent Care Associates join U.S. HealthWorks and extend our reach into the Greater Nashville area,” said Gregory Marotta, vice president of operations for U.S. HealthWorks in a statement. “We look forward to building on the excellent service that Tennessee Urgent Care Associates is known for and serving national clients that have operations in Tennessee.” Judy Temes
