Disney-ABC, Netflix Extend Streaming Deal

The Disney-ABC Television Group extended its licensing agreement with Netflix to provide television shows for streaming on the Internet. The agreement covers shows from ABC Studios, Disney Channel and ABC Family and adds new programming with “Alias,” “Switched at Birth,” and the animated Disney Channel series “Kick Buttkowski.” Episodes from the 2011-12 television season will be available 30 days after the last episode of the season airs. Library episodes available from Netflix include “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Army Wives,” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” “Disney and ABC have been and continue to be an innovative and supportive partner for Netflix,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a prepared statement. “The diverse but always excellent programming from the different channels and networks are favorites of our members and we are thrilled to broaden the scope and extend the terms or our relationship.”
