Bed Wedge Delivers Sweet Dreams

After two years of development, My Bed Wedge has hit the market, aiming to give sleepy consumers sweet dreams. The brainchild of West Hills resident Ed Peisner and his business partner Brent Mohr, the foam object acts as a barrier between a bed’s headboard and mattress to prevent objects from falling or becoming stuck and helps eliminate tossing and turning throughout the night, company officials said. Since launching the product in March, the duo has been marketing the patented product to push sales in hopes of making the Bed Wedge a household name. Peisner said the goal is to generate some 10,000 sales by the end of the year. To date, the company has sold about 1,200 items, he said. Peisner said the company is working to get the Bed Wedge featured on programs such as QVC, The Home Shopping Network and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The high-density polyurethane product is available in five different sizes, to fit various bed sizes, and a selection of colors and patterns. The Bed Wedge also includes a side-pocket to store items such as remote controls and cellphones. Currently, the Bed Wedge is only available via the company’s website, but Peisner said he plans to add mattress stores, speciality retailers and big-box chains such as Target to its retail line-up. Meanwhile, Peisner is already working on a second model — a Bed Wedge with speakers — to eliminate the need for a stereo in the bedroom. “This thing has taken on a life of its own,” Peisner said. “Everyone says we’re sitting on the next Snuggie.” — Angela Melero
