Glendale a Finalist for Business Friendly City Award

The City of Glendale is a finalist for a 2012 Most Business-Friendly City in Los Angeles Award, the third time it has earned that distinction. The award is presented by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. to cities with an environment that encourages businesses to locate or expand in their respective communities. In the population 60,000 and over category Glendale is competing against Baldwin Park, Pico Rivera and Santa Monica. Glendale was named a finalist for integrating economic development into the city’s general plan with a focus on developing a diverse, sustainable business base. For major business projects, the city has a concierge service team that includes the Planning, Building and Safety, Fire and Traffic departments. Business centers in Glendale include the Brand Boulevard of Cars, shopping centers Glendale Galleria and Americana at Brand, and the industrial San Fernando Road Corridor. Glendale was a finalist in 2008 and 2011. The Most Business Friendly City Award – known as the Eddy Award – will be presented on Nov. 8 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. Mark R. Madler
