NBC4 Southern California today announced several changes to its newscasts. “Today In LA” will add Michael Brownlee as co-anchor with Alycia Lane. Kathy Vara will move from that program to anchor the weekend newscasts at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. The weekday noon newscast, which Brownlee has anchored, will be co-anchored by incoming anchor/reporter Whit Johnson. Johnson joins the station from Capitol Hill and will co-anchor with Lucy Noland starting in mid-September. Steve Carlston, president and general manager of the Burbank station, said the additions to the anchor desk and other changes at the station “demonstrate our full commitment to a better news product and greater coverage,” in a prepared statement.
