Jewelry Collection Turns Heads

Sherman Oaks-based No Roses Gallery is showing off its rebellious side with a new jewelry line, KnucklePUNK. The men’s collection features rings, bracelets and pendants made from 18k gold, sterling silver and black diamonds. The line offers shoppers a combination of “bling” and beauty with its crosses, Celtic scrolls and shiny skulls set upon beds of diamonds. Since its debut about a month ago, the hand-fabricated collection has been turning heads in the jewelry showroom. “When people walk in it’s the first thing they look at,” said Lisa Sirlin-Hall, co-owner of No Roses Gallery. When searching for a designer, the showroom wanted someone that could fabricate a line that would appeal to men but also attract women. “We were looking for a really rugged, stylish, rocker hip-hop style of jewelry for men but also something for women as well,” Sirlin-Hall said. One of the gallery’s existing jewelry designers introduced gallery owners Sirlin-Hall and husband Tracy Hall to jewelry designer Samvel Manoukyan of Samvel Studio. After receiving some samples of his work the duo was impressed by what the Los Angeles designer had to offer. “(The pieces) really blew our minds,” Sirlin-Hall said. “They were really gorgeous.” Since opening No Roses Gallery in May of last year, the owners have remained committed to supporting local businesses, enlisting the work of Valley designers to feature in the showroom. Samvel Studio’s local presence and efficient work were selling points for the gallery owners. The company offers custom sizing for rings and bracelets. The KnucklePUNK collection features about 20 pieces with prices ranging from a few hundred dollars to about $6,000. In the coming months, the gallery is looking to expand on the line adding pieces from a new designer as well as some designed by Sirlin-Hall herself. “My work will include small leather and sterling pieces,” Sirlin-Hall said. Although an exact date has yet to be confirmed, she hopes to include the new additions by Valentine’s Day. — Angela Melero
