Ixia Acquires Cyber Security Testing Company
Monday, July 2, 2012Ixia will acquire cyber security testing firm BreakingPoint Systems in a deal valued at $160 million.
The acquisition is the second in recent months by Calabasas-based Ixia, a developer of network testing equipment and software.
The BreakingPoint purchase allows Ixia to offer an end-to-end service that monitors, tests, and optimizes converged networks.
Privately-owned BreakingPoint is headquartered in Austin and had revenues of $33.5 million in 2011. The company develops processor-based simulation and testing platforms.
“By leveraging BreakingPoint with Ixia's integrated portfolio of proven network test products, customers will have available to them an end-to-end solution to help ensure business continuity for enterprises and government organizations,” said Ixia CEO Vic Alston.
In May, Ixia acquired Anue Systems Inc., a manufacturer of monitoring and test equipment, for $145 million.
