Digital Deal for Carolla

Online radio host Adam Carolla has signed a deal with TuneIn to provide his show and other comedy programming. Carolla’s show and seven others produced by Toluca Lake-based Carolla Digital will be added to the more than two million on-demand programs streaming from every continent available through TuneIn, which distributes content to mobile phones and through an Internet connection.“TuneIn provides a means for our existing audience and new audiences from everywhere to discover and enjoy the high-quality programming we produce,” said Maddy Agopian, head of advertising sales and marketing, in a prepared statement. “The Adam Carolla Show” is the most popular comedy podcast and second most popular overall podcast in the iTunes App Store. Carolla turned to podcasting after KLSX-FM in Los Angeles — where he had hosted a morning show — changed to an all-music format. Carolla co-hosted “Loveline,” a syndicated radio call-in program from 1995 to 2005, and did television work on “The Man Show,” “Crank Yankers,” “The Car Show,” and “The Adam Carolla Project,” a home improvement show. Other shows produced by Carolla Digital available through TuneIn are “ACE on the House,” “For Crying Out Loud,” “CarCast,” “This Week with Larry Miller,” “Life Lessons with Jim Carolla,” “Penn’s Sunday School,” with illusionist Penn Jillette, and “Alison Rosen is Your New Best Friend.” “We are thrilled to align with Carolla Digital, one of the most innovative and popular groups in entertainment,” said Kevin Straley, vice president of programming, in a prepared statement. “With this alliance, TuneIn listeners everywhere can enjoy this great programming from wherever they are — at work, in the car, or on the go with their smartphones.” TuneIn is based in Palo Alto and funded by private equity firm Sequoia Capital.
