The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners has issued a request for bids for the runway repair project at Van Nuys Airport. Los Angeles World Airports said it expects to receive bids by the end of August and make a recommendation to the board in October. LAWA has applied to the Federal Aviation Administration for a grant to cover 95 percent of the cost. During repairs the runway is expected to be closed for 10 full days, 65 partial days and 26 nights. Mark R. Madler
