40 Under 40, Green

Aaron Green, 29 Director of Political and Community Relations, Afriat Cosulting Group Inc. Aaron Green knows politics. The 29-year-old serves as the director of political and community relations for Burbank-based Afriat Consulting Group Inc., where he has been since 2009, charged with shepherding clients’ projects through the bureaucratic channels of the city and county of Los Angeles. Prior to his work at Afriat, Green was the legislative affairs manager for the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, where he met regularly with L.A. City Council members and staff to advocate for VICA’s positions. While attending Hamilton College in New York, he interned for the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and then-Sen. Joe Biden. Green sits on the board of the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, and served as the deputy district director for Los Angeles for the California Young Democrats from 2009 to 2010. For Green, this work is about focusing on the issues and being honest. He has made a “commitment to always being candid with my clients, my colleagues and elected officials when collaborating with decision-makers.” “By conducting myself in this manner, I’ve built a reputation that my clients know they can bank on when they need projects advanced at City Hall,” he said. In recent years, Green used his negotiating skills to pave the way for approval of a 39-story, 283-condominium complex in Century City, lobbied for Anthem Blue Cross, managed entitlement efforts for billboards on the Sunset Strip, and managed the account for Clear Channel Outdoor, according to Steven Afriat, whom Green calls his mentor. “Short-term gains and a quick buck aren’t the goal,” Green said, of his career goals. “In the long-term, personal satisfaction is the goal, because my long-term dividends, both personal and financial, will end up being greater.”
