Bruce Munster, 37 Chief Investment Officer, MPF Family Wealth Group; Executive Director, Woodland Hills office, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney As the chief investment officer and lead partner of MPF Family Wealth Group, Bruce Munster is the only adviser under age 40 to break the top 10 in rankings of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s nearly 900 Southern California financial advisers. Based in Woodland Hills, Munster, 37, oversees the management of nearly $850 million for 55 families. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2007, Munster built a $1 billion practice as a named partner in the Private Wealth Management Group at UBS. Munster has accelerated his career by building strategic relationships. “Career advice to young advisors: Earn the trust and personal business for leading professionals in your market,” he said. “Since I focus on middle market entrepreneurs, my key relationships were built with heads of investment banks, law firms and private equity partners.” Munster, a Cornell University alumnus, sits on the board of the California CEO Forum, is active in the Association for Corporate Growth and the Aerospace and Defense Counsel. He’s also a contributing author for C-Suite Quarterly magazine. “If you really want something,” Munster says, “you can never do too much, only too little.”
