Apollo Medical Holdings Hires Local Health Care Executive

Mark Meyers, a veteran health care executive, has been named chief strategy officer and a board member of Apollo Medical Holdings Inc., a Glendale company that manages hospital-based medical practices. Meyers most recently worked as senior vice president of operations for the Los Angeles region of Dignity Health, which operates four hospitals in the area. Dignity is a San Francisco-based Catholic hospital system that is the largest in the state. It recently changed its name from Catholic Healthcare West. “(Mark) is an accomplished health care leader who has a profound understanding of the changes which are occurring in the health care industry,” said ApolloMed Chief Executive Warren Hosseinion, in a statement. “(He) will be a valuable member of our senior operations team.” ApolloMed services hospitals in central and Southern California, and recently announced that it will provide care in Orange County. Its practices include doctors who oversee day-to-day care of inpatients, as well as critical-care doctors and others. Among its competitors is IPC The Hospitalist Co. Inc., a publicly traded North Hollywood company. “I believe in the vision that Apollo Medical Holdings has, to provide a logical and attractive alternative for independent physicians, hospitals and managed care organizations,” said Meyers, who has more than 30 years of experience. Share of Apollo were down 9 cents, or 20 percent, to 36 cents in afternoon over-the- counter trading. Bailey Brewer
