Lotus Home 12345 Ventura Blvd. Opened: 2009 Lotus is a boutique home furnishings retailer specializing in custom furniture and design. The store creates handmade pieces, including beds, sofas and chairs. Lotus also does upholstery and boasts having a choice of 10,000 fabrics. The 3,000-square-foot store sells floor models too. Umami Burger 12159 Ventura Blvd. Opened: February 2011 The Studio City outlet of the Los Angeles chain that started the gourmet burger craze, Umami Restaurant Group LLC, opened between a Lucky Brand Jeans and Mexicali, a Studio City standby. The 1,400-square-foot location is packed at lunch and dinner despite charging $10 to $15 for its burgers. PizzaRev 12103 Ventura Blvd. Opened: September 2012 The 2,600-square-foot restaurant near Laurel Canyon Boulevard is distinguished by a food-assembly operation similar to a Chipotle Mexican Grill and employs a high-temperature oven that can cook a pizza in three minutes. Each 11-inch pie sells for $7.95, regardless of how its topped. Limelight Boutique 4330 Tujunga Ave. Opened: November 2010 An upscale women’s boutique that carries everything from yoga wear to jackets, jewelry and formalwear. The 800-square-foot store is on one of the more trendy areas of Studio City off Ventura Boulevard. The block also is home to longtime businesses such as Vitello’s Restaurant. Sportsmen’s Lodge 12825 Ventura Blvd. Renovated: October 2009 A once-popular hangout for Hollywood celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, the Sportsmen’s Lodge was bought and remodeled by developer Richard Weintraub in 2009. The 40,000-square-foot hotel received a full makeover of its event center. The River Rock Lounge opened in 2011; it features a bar and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, live music and DJs. Urban Outfitters 12110 Ventura Blvd. Opened: July 2006 The 12,400-square-foot outlet of Urban Outfitters Inc. next to a large corner CVS Pharmacy and features men’s and women’s apparel and home décor – all geared toward the 18- to 30-year-old demographic. Page 71 Lounge 11916 Ventura Blvd. Opened: September 2011 A trendy lounge that doesn’t open until 8 p.m., Page 71 has a dark interior with red walls and is typical of a new breed of Studio City nightspots that have a Hollywood feel. The 1,500-square-foot lounge, with a large outdoor patio, has live DJs and features everything from funk and jazz to hip-hop. Stout Burgers and Beers 11262 Ventura Blvd. Opened: August 2012 Another take on the trend of upscale burger bars, Stout offers 10 different burgers that cost $10, in addition to about 30 specialty beers on tap. The 2,400-square-foot eatery is across the street from an OfficeMax outlet in a formerly quiet section of Ventura Boulevard. It’s the second restaurant for Stout Burgers & Beers Kaglew LLP, which started in Hollywood.
