‘Marvel Experience’ to Hit Road in 2014

Iron Man, Spider-Man and other Marvel Entertainment superheroes are hitting the road next year in a $30 million traveling immersive experience with rides and 3-D animated features. “The Marvel Experience” is a co-production of Marvel Entertainment LLC, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Co. in Burbank, and Los Angeles entertainment company Hero Ventures. “The Marvel Experience” tour begins in 2014. The show includes a “4-D” motion ride, original 3-D animated features, and virtual reality and holographic simulation housed in a multi-domed complex the size of two football fields. Sean Haran, vice president of business development at Marvel Entertainment, headquartered in New York City, said the show will be groundbreaking. Investors in the venture include Shamrock Holdings Inc., the Burbank investment firm of the Roy Disney family; Brian Sheth, president of private investment firm Vista Equity Partners in San Francisco; and Steve Tisch, feature film producer and co-owner of the New York Giants football team.
