DreamWorks Animation Creating Netflix Series
Tuesday, February 12, 2013DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. will create the first original series for children to be streamed through Netflix.
“Turbo: F.A.S.T” debuts in December and is based on the lead character of the Glendale-based DreamWorks Animation feature film “Turbo” coming to theaters this summer.
With more than 2 billion hours of children’s content streamed during 2012, Netflix is one of the largest and fastest-growing audiences in kids television, said DreamWorks Animation Cheif Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg.
“They pioneered a new model for TV dramas with ‘House of Cards,’ and now together, we’re doing the same thing with kids’ programming,” Katzenberg said in a prepared statement.
In addition to “Turbo: F.A.S.T.,” all new DreamWorks Animation feature titles will be available for streaming to Netflix members in the U.S. beginning with the 2013 line-up.
