Health Net of California was awarded five-year contracts by the state Department of Health Care Services to continue managing Medi-Cal dental benefits in Los Angeles and Sacramento counties, the company announced on Monday.
The company, a subsidiary of Health Net Inc. in Woodland Hills, manages a Medi-Cal dental plan that covers exams, routine cleaning and X-rays. Health Net provides access to its network of dentists as well as 24-hour help phone lines and language interpretation services.
Most low-income residents that qualify for Medi-Cal do not pay under the plan.
“We are committed to our partnership with dental care providers and the state to help provide Medi-Cal dental beneficiaries with continued access to quality care,” said David Friedman, vice-president at Health Net of California, in a statement.
Shares of Health Net lost 48 cents, or 1.8 percent, to close at $26.65 on the Nasdaq.
