Providence Holy Cross has named Dr. Bernard Klein has its new chief executive, the hospital announced Thursday. Klein has been serving as interim chief since December, when Larry Bowe took a regional position with Providence Health & Services. “(Klein) is so well-respected and loved at Providence Holy Cross and is a key reason this hospital is consistently listed among the best,” said Michael Hunn, regional chief executive of Providence, in a statement. Klein will also remain chief medical officer of the hospital, a position he has held since 2005. He has been credited with improving the hospital’s patient outcome metrics by applying uniform surgical care and creating a hospitalist program at the hospital. The Mission Hills hospital is a 377-bed Catholic not-for-profit hospital with approximately 2,000 employees and 588 doctors on staff.
