Gelson’s Markets will open a store in La Cañada-Flintridge, parent company Arden Group announced Monday. The company declined to disclose the exact location or square-footage of the new store because of a request by the current tenant of the space. However, Gelson’s said the lease will begin in December with an anticipated store opening in early 2014. “The remodel and actual opening of the location is subject to, among other things, necessary governmental approvals,” the company said in a statement. Headquartered in Encino, Gelson’s currently operates 16 upscale supermarkets, including six in the San Fernando Valley. It is a subsidiary of Arden Group in Compton.
