New Chamber Chief in Simi Valley

Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce announced on Tuesday that is has hired Gioia Goodrum as its new chief executive officer. Goodrum, who will assume the post May 26, has 30 years of experience in business and higher education. She most recently was chief executive of the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce in Williams, Ariz. The search for a new chief executive began nearly five months ago after Chief Executive Leigh Nixon announced she was retiring last December. Nixon, who served on the chamber for 16 years, will be retiring at the end of May. In addition to serving on the city chamber in Arizona, Goodrum worked at accounting firm Coopers and Lybrand and the University of Massachusetts. She received her MBA from Simmons College in Boston. “We welcome Gioia and her husband to the community,” said Michelle Foster, Simi Valley Chamber board chairwoman. “She is eager to begin her new position.” Goodrum resides in Williams, Ariz. and will make the move to Simi Valley by the end of this month.
