Qualstar Corp. Names President

Qualstar Corp. promoted Daniel K. Jan to president after having served as executive vice president the past year, the company announced. Jan replaces Steven Bronson who will remain as chief executive of the Westlake Village tape storage and power supply manufacturer. Bronson was named president in 2013 after a successful proxy battle to gain control of the company. Prior to joining Qualstar, Jan had been president of BDT Products Inc., in Newport Beach, the U.S. subsidiary of German company BDT Media Automation GmbH, a developer and manufacturer of tape storage products. “Dan brings years of diverse technology and management experience that has helped Qualstar focus and deliver on our mission,” Bronson said in a prepared statement. Qualstar also announced that at its annual meeting on May 15, Bronson, Sean M. Leder, Dale E. Wallis and David J. Wolenski were re-elected and Nicholas A. Yarymovych was elected to the board of directors. Shares closed down 9 cents, or more than 6 percent, to $1.35 on the Nasdaq.
