Cherokee Expands European Distribution

Cherokee Global Brands announced Tuesday it has entered into a new license agreement that will further expand its European distribution. The Sherman Oaks apparel brand marketer has entered an agreement with Netherlands-based Saborn Licensing Co. B.V. to manufacture and distribute Cherokee branded apparel throughout Western and Central Europe. The agreement will give Saborn the rights to distribute men’s, women’s and children’s apparel in addition to an assortment of accessories at department stores and specialty shops throughout Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and some Scandinavian countries. Products are expected to launch in 2016. “Saborn will fully leverage our 360-degree platform, enabling them to benefit from the vision, agility and scale that we bring to our flagship partners around the world,” Henry Stupp, chief executive of Cherokee, said in a statement. Cherokee currently maintains license agreements with more than 7,000 manufacturers and retailers in a span of 50 countries. The company manages a portfolio of fashion and lifestyle brands that include Tony Hawk, Liz Lange and Everyday California. Shares closed up 79 cents or 5 percent to $16.40 on the Nasdaq.
