Delivery Service Axing Jobs

Golden State Overnight Delivery Service Inc. is laying off its entire staff of drivers from its Santa Clarita location this fall. The 68 employees will be let go between Oct. 3 and Nov. 15, according to a letter sent by the San Ramon company to the state Employment Development Department. Golden State is also laying off 98 employees from its Ontario facility and 58 workers from its San Diego location, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification from the EDD. The Santa Clarita facility will continue operating after the drivers are eliminated, the letter stated, adding, “This action is expected to be permanent.” Last year, Golden State was acquired by General Logistics Systems, a Dutch subsidiary of Royal Mail plc, in London.
