Ferrara Candy Co. is closing its downtown Glendale offices, resulting in layoffs for some 88 employees working there. Ferrara notified the state Employment Development Department that the layoffs will take place on Dec. 31 or March 31 of next year, the closing date of the offices at 800 N. Brand Blvd. That building is where Nestlé USA had occupied multiple floors for its corporate headquarters before relocating last year to Virginia. Also last year, Ferrara’s parent company Ferrero Group acquired Nestlé USA’s confectionery business for approximately $2.8 billion. The transaction added to the Ferrara portfolio such candy brands as Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Crunch bars and Nerds. Ferrara Candy Co. was acquired by Ferrero Group in Luxemburg in October 2017 for an undisclosed amount. It is headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
