Burbank’s Talaria Development Wins Architecture Award

Talaria at Burbank, the new apartment complex from Cusumano Real Estate Group, has won the Grand Award at the 2019 Gold Nugget Awards. Cusumano and the design team of Nadia Geller Designs and VTBS Architects were honored in the category of Best Mixed Use Project. Talaria is Burbank’s first LEED Gold certified residential or mixed-use project. The Gold Nuggets honor design and planning achievements in community and home design, green-built housing, site planning, commercial, retail, mixed-use development and specialty housing categories. The awards are administered by the California Building Industry Association. Talaria at Burbank features 241 luxury apartments and a brand new Whole Foods Market at 3425 West Olive Ave. “Talaria Burbank was envisioned to be a cutting-edge urban community-based upon sustainable design and the best possible amenities,” Cusumano Real Estate Group Vice President Michael Cusumano said in a statement. “We built Talaria to be Burbank’s first and only ultra-luxury, for-rent housing community in the heart of the Burbank Media District, a short walk from thousands of entertainment-related and health care jobs.” Large individual residences — which include one, two and three bedrooms, and townhouse-style penthouse units, all ranging from 823 square feet to more than 3,000 square feet — feature Jenn-Air kitchen appliances, Maytag washers and dryers, designer closets, Nest thermostats, and stone and tile kitchen and bath finishes. Community amenities at the 4-acre, 250,000-square-foot property include on-site concierge and maintenance, fitness center with spin room and saunas, pool, cabanas and outdoor kitchen, 34-seat private screening room, community pub room, business center, bike storage, wine storage, dry bar salon, massage facilities, pet spa, dog run with play park, three courtyards, and a rooftop lounge. “A model walk/bike project, Talaria offers a plethora of exclusive on-site amenities allowing residents to go about their daily activities without ever leaving home,” Cusumano said. “Gold Nugget Award winners reflect our industry’s best, brightest and most innovative architects, planners and builder/developers,” said Judging Chairman and Gold Nugget ceremonies administrator Lisa Parrish.
