Britto Brightens Lamps Plus

Chatsworth-based lighting retailer Lamps Plus has launched a collection of customizable lamp shades, pillows and other home accessories featuring artwork from Brazilian neo-pop painter and sculptor Romero Britto. The collection includes desk and floor lamp shades, ceiling lights, sconces, throw pillows and more, all outfitted in Britto’s style of bold hues and cubist patterns. Most of the designs can be customized online to appear in the customer’s choice of colors. “We always try to distinguish our brand from others through our products and services,” Dennis Swanson, Lamps Plus chief executive, told the Business Journal. “Artist collaborations offer variety in our product selection. Artwork brings a different element to interior design and, with an artist like Romero Britto, offers a one-of-a-kind design with bold colors and patterns.” The company has previously partnered on collections with Brandon Ragnar Johnson, Thomas Paul and Thomas Kinkade. Additionally, customizability gives Lamps Plus products a personal flair that shoppers can’t get at other stores. “Our customization product lines for lamp shades, pillows and lamp bases through our Color Plus collection set Lamps Plus apart from other retailers,” Swanson said. These efforts help the company stay relevant and profitable in a crowded retail market. Britto collection products are made to order using giclee printing technology, a technique which enables higher quality reproduction and better longevity. Prices range from $49.99 for throw pillows to $299.99 for pendant chandeliers. A three-year licensing agreement between Britto and Lamps Plus was signed in June 2018 by Encore Endeavor One, a Seattle-based product management subsidiary of Level Brands Inc. Britto previously signed a nine-year product licensing deal with Encore Endeavor One. Level Brands generates royalties on sales from the collection. Products are available at all Lamps Plus retailers in California and online.
