Chick-fil-A Expands in Valley

Chick-fil-A has some distance to travel before it catches many other fast-food chains in the San Fernando Valley, but it is taking one step toward doing so. It will open a restaurant Nov. 14 at Ventura Boulevard and White Oak Avenue in Encino – only the chain’s fourth store in the Valley, if you include one in Burbank. For comparison’s sake, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., Jack in the Box and Taco Bell each has 16 to 20 stores in the same area. In-N-Out Burger has 12. Even the Habit Burger Grill, not a traditional fast-food restaurant, has eight – twice as many as Chick-fil-A. Chick-Fil-A did not say if it plans to continue expanding in the San Fernando Valley, but it did say 10 percent of its growth this year occurred in southern California. Also opening on the 14th are Chick-fil-A locations in Lake Elsinore and Santa Clara. The new Encino shop will include a drive through, outdoor seating area and walk-up ordering windows. Alyson Perry, a Chick-fil-A employee for 13 years, was selected as franchise operator for the new outlet, which will employ 85.
