Last Meal at Barragan’s After 38 Years

Glendale staple Barragan’s, which served casual Mexican-American fare, has closed after a 38-year run. Its final day of service was Aug. 15. The former chain now operates just one remaining location on Victory Boulevard in Burbank. In a prepared statement to customers, the Barragan family wrote: “We are grateful to the Glendale community and our longtime customers who have made this journey possible. Four generations of Barragan family and our dedicated staff look forward to seeing you in Burbank and we approach our 60th anniversary.” The notice also stated that the company will transfer as many employees as possible to the Burbank location. Barragan’s was founded in 1961 by Ramon and Grace Barragan, with its first location on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park. It later expanded to Burbank and Glendale. The original Echo Park location closed in 2013 when the family sold the property.
