Lancaster Urgent Care Center Wins Design-Build Award

High Desert Mental Health Urgent Care Center was among the award winners when the Design-Build Institute of America announced its nationwide 2021 Design-Build Project/Team Awards.The Lancaster-based urgent care center is a $14.5 million, 9,900-square-foot facility built by Penta Building Group in Los Angeles.

The facility was completed on time and on budget in 6.5 months despite the impact of COVID-19.The Lancaster facility, which offers 24/7 urgent mental health and crisis services, is owned by the L.A. County Department of Mental Health. It is one of three award winners located in Los Angeles County, flanking the new LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse and the Caltech Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building.“These projects also exemplify how the teamwork and innovation inherent in design-build can foster environmental stewardship and social responsibility, maximizing long-term value to the project, the team and the community at large,” Lisa Washington, the institute’s executive director and chief executive, said in a statement.
