Government’s Big Data Set For Growth

DataDirect Networks Inc., also known as DDN, has expanded its DDN Federal division by doubling the size of the payroll since the beginning of the year.

The Chatsworth big data storage supplier said in a release that its long-term investments are in response to the accelerating demand for data storage systems by the U.S. government, which resulted in more than 30 percent annual sales growth in 2021.

Jeff Jordan, the new vice president of federal sales, said that the company is proud to be a trusted partner of the federal government, the Pentagon, the Department of Energy and federal health care agencies.

“With DDN solutions, our customers are accelerating their digital transformation and achieving unmatched levels of scale, efficiency and reliability with better and faster decisions from their massive datasets,” Jordan said in a statement.

Jordan is adding to the DDN Federal team with technical, system architecture and sales expertise to provide solutions for scalable multi-cloud, AI and converged data storage requirements, the company said in a release.

The new hires to the federal team include Justin Collins, a former member of Oracle Corp.’s National Security Group, and Rob Genkinger, vice president of Programs and Strategy with U.S. Army Special Forces and data storage experience.

Paul Bloch, president and a co-founder of DDN, said that its foundation in the federal market has been developed by serving agencies with the most demanding applications.

“The U.S. government has entrusted DDN with its data storage needs for more than two decades, and we continue to deliver uncompromising performance, availability and security at massive scale to help them achieve their goals,” Bloch said in a statement.

DataDirect supplies its storage capacity to the Department of Defense’s supercomputing resource center where the company supports more than 26 petabytes of storage. It also provides storage for the Department of Justice, intelligence agencies and health care agencies.
