Chatsworth-based MGA Entertainment Inc. announced late last month the launch of the LOL OMG House of Surprises, a dollhouse featuring 1980s themed rooms, as featured in the “LOL Surprise!” series on YouTube.
The LOL Surprise! doll was named by research firm NPD Group as the top toy property in the U.S. and Canada for 2020.
The four-story mini-mansion, sold for $229 at retailers including Target Corp. and Walmart Inc., features spinning rooms that are accessible to play with from all angles, instead of a traditional front-opening dollhouse. Its 10 furnished rooms include a drive-thru diner with booths, a spiral slide, a light-up rooftop fire pit and pool that can be filled with water.
“The LOL Surprise! House of Surprises is unlike any dollhouse we have done before,” MGA Chief Executive Isaac Larian said in a statement. “With real wood finishes, an 80’s aesthetic and spinning rooms that allow for all to gather and play, this house inspires all the fun that LOL fans have come to love.”
The dolls, popularized by their YouTube series with 1.8 million followers, are sold separately from the dollhouse. The animated series and toy franchise will soon grow to include “LOL Surprise: The Movie” on Netflix, scheduled for release on Oct. 15.
