Editor, Jason Schaff, is a 30-year veteran of the newspaper business. He was formerly deputy managing editor of the Los Angeles Business Journal where he supervised that publication's newsroom. He also has been business editor of the three publications of the San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group (Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune and Whittier Daily News) and was an editor in the business section of the Daily News of Los Angeles for eight years. Before that, Jason held editing and reporting positions at The Outlook in Santa Monica and at newspapers in Kansas, Arkansas and Texas. He also spent two years at the CBS Television Network.

He is a 25-year resident of the Valley, currently residing in the NoHo Arts District.

Jason is a recreational bowler and avid Orange Line user.

Staff Reporter, Mark R. Madler, joined the San Fernando Valley Business Journal in 2006 as a staff reporter and is now responsible for covering the media and entertainment industries; advertising, marketing and public relations; manufacturing and technology; aviation and aerospace; transportation as well as the City of Burbank and the Antelope Valley.

Mark began his reporting career in 1992 with the City News Bureau of Chicago, and continued as a staff writer for daily and twice-weekly newspapers in the Chicago area. He most recently was City Hall reporter with the Burbank Leader, part of the Times Community Newspaper chain.

He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Mark only goes to Chavez Ravine when the Cubs are in town and once saw a no-hitter at Fenway Park.

Staff Reporter, Linda Coburn, began working with the Business Journal in 2007 as a part-time copy editor and freelance reporter while pursuing her Bachelors degree in Journalism at California State University, Northridge. She is now a full-time staff reporter covering real estate, retail and banking. Linda also is responsible for overseeing the research department.

Prior to becoming a journalist, Linda spent 20 years working in marketing and recruiting for the Southern California real estate, design and construction industry. She has been a staff reporter for the Pierce College Roundup weekly newspaper and the CSUN Sundial daily newspaper.

As a full-time reporter, still full-time student at CSUN, wife and mother of a teenager, Linda has very little free time but does manage to coax some fruits and vegetables out of her Northridge backyard.

Staff Reporter, Nadra Kareem , joined the Business Journal in 2007 as a staff reporter and is now responsible for covering health care, hotels and tourism, the restaurant and automotive industries, education, government, agriculture, family businesses and the cities of Santa Clarita and Glendale.

She has worked for the Los Angeles Times, Inland Valley; the L.A. Watts Times; the El Paso Times in Texas; and the Santa Fe Reporter in Santa Fe, N.M. Nadra's articles have also appeared in magazines and journals such as The Source, Mean Street and Prism. She is a graduate of Occidental College in Eagle Rock. In her free time, Nadra enjoys going to literary readings. She also maintains a blog.

Researcher, Ari Morguelan, got his big break as a journalist after he broke a story about the only Jewish Sumo wrestler in Japan, aptly entitled "Jew-Mo." After working for five years at The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, where he was able to contribute editorially, Ari found a passion for journalism and went back to school to complete his formal education.

Ari has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Cal State Northridge, with an emphasis in public relations. He has contributed to not only the Jewish Journal but to The National Jewish News, the Daily Sundial at CSUN and Hadassah Magazine. Ari has written everything from sports articles to book reviews, Q & A's and feature stories, having never met a story assignment he didn't like.

He is a West Los Angeles native who is now a Valley resident.
