Local professional staffing firm On Assignment, Inc., is acquiring a London-based company that provides search services to the life sciences sector in a deal worth $5 million, the Calabasas-based company announced. Sharpstream provides services to the life sciences sector. The company had revenues of $5 million in 2009 and has branch offices in Philadelphia and Shanghai. On Assignment provides staffing solutions in specialty areas, including the healthcare, financial, information technology and engineering fields. The acquisition comes after On Assignment’s recent purchase of The Cambridge Group and helps complete the staffing company’s offerings in the life sciences arena. It also allows the company to enhance its global presence, company executives said. “We hope to use their Shanghai office as a base for operations to launch On Assignment’s legacy scientific and clinical research offerings in China,” said On Assignment President and CEO Peter Dameris. “The latest acquisition enhances our value and ability to serve our clients throughout North America, the United Kingdom, Northern Europe, and now Latin America and Asia.” Jessica Selva
