We’re continuing to put a spotlight on companies excelling in their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Last week, we
expanded our spotlight, and conversation, to the San Fernando Valley.
The San Fernando Valley Business Journal hosted its first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Awards on August 17th. During
this live digital event, we had the opportunity to meet, hear from – and learn from – some of the top organizations and
leaders who are going above and beyond to drive DEI initiatives in the San Fernando Valley region.
As the discussion around DEI continues to evolve, it is worth noting that there is now a mounting collection of evidence to
support the fact that organizations that are proactive in DEI efforts perform better as a whole.
• Studies surrounding diversity in the workplace have found that for every 1% increase in gender diversity, company revenue
increases by 3%.
• Higher levels of ethnic diversity increase revenue, on average, by a remarkable 15%.
• According to Glassdoor, 67% of active and passive job seekers say that when evaluating companies and job offers, it is
important to them that the company has a diverse workforce.
In addition to honoring them at the event, we’ve profiled their efforts here. These diversity champions have repeatedly proven that they know what it takes to
create equitable, inclusive and welcoming environments where employees love to come to work – and do so feeling respected.
