Disney Concept Store Opens at Mall

Westfield Fashion Square is one of the latest locations to feature the Disney Store’s newly-designed concept store. The Sherman Oaks location celebrated the grand opening of the remodeled store on Oct. 19 and followed it with a series of events throughout the rest of the month. The new design, which includes a Disney Princess castle with magic mirror, translucent magical trees, Disney?Pixar CARS neighborhood, and the Disney Store Theatre, aims to give customers an interactive and immersive experience, said Shawn Turner, public relations manager for Disney Store North America. In celebration of its 25th Anniversary, Disney Store will unveil a new and remodeled store at its original location in Glendale Galleria in the spring. After developing the new concept for two years, Disney Store began rolling out the concept last year. By the end of the year, the retail chain will have 60 new concept stores in 16 major cities in North America and eight countries, officials said. Inspired by the interactive hands-on atmosphere found in Apple stores, the new Disney stores are meant to allow customers to “experience the technology, not notice it,” Turner said. “People have said the stores remind them of a Disney theme park,” Turner said. “That’s what our goal was.” — Angela Melero
