Netflix to Continue Streaming CW Shows

Burbank-based CW Television Network and streaming entertainment provider Netflix of Los Gatos on Tuesday announced a licensing deal that allows Netflix to continue as the only U.S. subscription television service providing past seasons of scripted CW series. The new agreement includes all current CW programming, beginning with the just wrapped-up 2015-2016 season, as well as future series produced during the span of the contract. The announcement described the deal as a multi-year one, but didn’t specify how many years. For next season, Netflix users will be able to stream full programs eight days after each show’s season finale. “Since the initial landmark deal in 2011, the CW’s programming has enjoyed tremendous success and increased exposure through Netflix, and our new agreement not only continues but enhances this valuable relationship,” CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. Programming available to Netflix subscribers will include the DC series “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Jane the Virgin” and newcomers “Frequency” and “Riverdale.” The CW is a joint venture between the CBS Corp. of New York and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. of Burbank.
