Qubeey Partners With Brown

Qubeey, a Van Nuys-based social media technology company, has teamed with singer Chris Brown in an effort to draw the pop star’s 37 million fans to its website. The company – which offers an interface that enables users access to Facebook, Twitter and other sites without being connected to a browser – recently gave Brown his own channel, featuring videos, photos and music. “Chris actually created a profile for himself, and when we realized it was really Chris, we reached out to him,” said Marcus Legall, Qubeey’s executive vice president of entertainment. “Chris didn’t mind taking the risk of endorsing a new platform, reminiscent of Ashton Kutcher when he just jumped on Twitter in the early days.” The Chris Brown campaign gives followers of his micro-site on Qubeey a chance to attend a party with the star Oct. 20 in Los Angeles. Brown already has leveraged his considerable ‘Team Breezy’ following on Twitter to drive fans to the site, which saw 150,000 page views in less than four hours after one tweet from the singer. “It’s been mostly about the same traffic, up and down,” Legall said. The company previously paired with other celebrities for similar deals, but Brown is arguably the most high-profile to date. The site offers channels to most users through its Qube interface, which Legall said the company soon will update. The new version will allow users to share in the ad revenue generated by their channel. “They’ll be able to monetize their platform,” he said. “So it will really benefit entertainers, whether they’re Chris Brown or just someone who’re really popular on social media.” – Kelly Goff
