Rose to Focus on Alliance Funding

Judi Rose, former communications director at the Valley Community Clinic, has taken a job as director of fund development and investor relations at the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley. Rose said she’s excited about joining the Alliance during a period of growth, but had no specific information about what projects she’d be working on in the coming months. “Bruce Ackerman has a lot of plans to grow the Alliance. Of course, when you do that you need capital,” she said. Ackerman, president and chief executive officer of the Alliance, said he wants to build up the group’s fundys in order to make long-term planning more viable. “Right now, we’re going from project to project, rather than looking at a strategy for doing things,” he said. Ackerman said that while much of the Alliance’s work is business retention, which puts him in contact with some of the largest local businesses. He said he hopes that companies the Alliance helps to remain or expand in the Valley become regular donors, as well. Ackerman said he hopes to expand all of the Alliance’s programs to some extent. Throughout the year, the organization runs a major awards gala and several outreach and assistance programs, and coordinates workplace training programs as well. Marketing, or community branding, is the group’s other major priority, Ackerman said. “We’re the ad agency for the San Fernando Valley,” he said.
