City Council President Alex Padilla, chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Selection of the Chief Legislative Analyst, named Councilmembers Eric Garcetti, Janice Hahn, Bernard C. Parks and Greig Smith to join him. Ron Deaton, the former Chief Legislative Analyst, left to become General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power on December 1. Gerry Miller, the Chief Legislative Analyst’s Executive Officer, is currently serving in Deaton’s place. The analyst’s office, which has a 50-person staff, provides technical assistance to the city council. Personnel from the office work with each council committee to gather and provide information that the council may need for the passage of legislation.
