North Hollywood-based Walt Disney Internet Group has announced that it is forming a new, mobile business focused on national wireless phone service for families. The new wireless phone service, built on a partnership with Sprint and its PCS wireless phone network will offer wireless service, custom handsets and applications targeted at families. The companies said the service ill launch sometime next year. Disney will be responsible for all product development, marketing, customer relations, billing, and other operations.
